Charges of Human Trafficking withdrawn against N.B. in the Ontario Court of Justice, Brampton. N.B. and I.B. were alleged to be involved in the trafficking of sex trade workers. In July of 2024, the complainant was at a hotel party where she met N.B. Over a period of time, the two became closer and started spending time together. It was alleged that N.B. introduced the complainant to the sex trade and that the two would work together out of motels in southern Ontario. The allegations also involved N.B. loaning the complaint funds upfront from their proceeds to help her with her daily living expenses. Michael Bury spent considerable time in negotiations with the Crown demonstrating the weakness of the Crown’s case and showing how the allegations were completely out of character for N.B. who was on track to becoming a social worker. It was the other accused, I.B., who was initiating and pursuing sex trade activities for the complainant. As a result of the negotiations, the Crown agreed to withdraw the charges.
