(2025)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15362 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/nrlawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/ME-NEW-FINAL-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Charges of Assault and Assault Bodily Harm withdrawn on day 1 of a two-day trial in the Ontario Court of Justice, Guelph.\u00a0\u00a0 E.S. and three other individuals became involved in a verbal altercation outside a nightclub on a Saturday evening.\u00a0 They had never met before.\u00a0 The three individuals had been drinking earlier and gradually escalated matters with E.S. by throwing a soft drink plastic bottle in his direction.\u00a0 All four parties then became involved in a physical altercation.\u00a0 E.S., instead of walking away, remained and the fighting escalated to the point where he allegedly caused one of the complainants bodily harm by pushing him into a concrete barrier headfirst.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Michael Bury of Neuberger &amp; Partners LLP, Toronto Criminal Lawyers, was retained to defend the charges.\u00a0 Michale Bury engaged in extensive negotiations with the Crown and demonstrated that despite the actions of E.S., the other individuals were similarly at fault by initiating the fight.\u00a0 The Crown agreed to withdraw the charges before the commencement of the trial upon E.S. entering into a common law peacebond which required him not to have any contact with the complainants for 12 months.\u00a0 As a result, E.S. avoided a possible criminal record if found guilty following a trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","success_category":[118,119],"class_list":["post-30035","success_story","type-success_story","status-publish","hentry","success_category-all-success-stories","success_category-sexual-assault-domestic-assault-and-other-violent-crimes"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nrlawyers.com\/6ixDev-v2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/success_story\/30035","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nrlawyers.com\/6ixDev-v2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/success_story"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nrlawyers.com\/6ixDev-v2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/success_story"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nrlawyers.com\/6ixDev-v2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=30035"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"success_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nrlawyers.com\/6ixDev-v2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/success_category?post=30035"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
