Mariya graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015. At law school, Mariya participated in the Innocence Project where she worked on the case files of people who claim to be wrongfully convicted. In addition, Mariya has volunteered as a case worker at the Community & Legal Aid Services Programme (CLASP), specializing in criminal law. Mariya has always had a strong interest in criminal law and she was a member of Osgoode Hall Criminal Law Society during her law school years.
Mariya articled under the supervision of Joseph Neuberger, the senior partner of Neuberger & Partners LLP. Mariya worked on a number of complex criminal cases defending clients charged with sexual or domestic assault, conspiracy and murder.
Mariya was called to the bar in 2016 and has already successfully defended a number of her clients where the charges against her clients were withdrawn.
Mariya has an Honours degree in criminology and psychology from York University. She is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian languages.
Mariya’s practice focuses on criminal defence litigation, including drug charges, driving offences including impaired and dangerous driving, sexual and domestic assault as well as financial crimes. Mariya is dedicated to her clients and prides herself on her communication with her clients and strongly advocating for her clients.
