A traffic stop west of Carlow resulted in two men facing various charges. Officers from Huron County Ontario Provincial Police stopped the vehicle, determined that one of the men was being sought already and took both men into custody after finding marijuana in the vehicle.

The officers stopped a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck on Blyth Road after 11 p.m. During the stop, officers talked with the two men in the vehicle. Once the police officers found out that one of the men was suspected of criminal harassment, they took him into custody. They then searched the vehicle and allegedly located what appeared to be marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine in a backpack that was located inside the truck.

The 46-year-old Central Huron man who’s facing the criminal harassment charge is also being charged with possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The man’s 32-year-old passenger is facing charges of possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Both men were released from custody and were scheduled to appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice, one in August and one in September.

Ontario criminal defence lawyers may be able to assist individuals who are charged with a variety of drug crimes. If law enforcement officers suspect organized illegal drug activity, they may impose additional conspiracy charges. Criminal defence lawyers may be able to challenge a search and seizure of a vehicle if there wasn’t enough evidence at the time to warrant the search. They may also help individuals avoid serious long-term consequences by getting a plea bargain for them.
